Please Help me make a BOOT SCREEN

I read the guide for creating boot screens.
I got at far as exporting the BMP from the ntoskrnl.exe
file (using ResourceHacker) into Photoshop 7.

Two questions:

1) How do I create/integrate new cusom palettes? (Using
Photoshop7 and ResHack)

2) Where can I read more about this?
