Monitor keeps going into sleep mode

I'm running Win98SE, 1gb mem with 256mb ram.  I'm using a Phillips 107e 17" monitor.  Lately, the monitor goes totally black and the "off-on" button changes from a green light to a yellow one.  I have to shut it down and wait hours before it will work again, if at all.  It's not that old a monitor to be acting up, I think I've did all I have to in my win98 to prevent it but I don't know what could be causing it.  ANY help would be appreciated...thanks,

I use to work at a computer place that sold 1,000's of that type of monitor. We use to have a huge amount of them come back with that same problem, If you look at the phillips website, you will find the contact info for them and they will X-ship you a monitor.
