Can't remove bad sector record ???
« on: September 26, 2003, 06:28:05 PM »
Hi, I discovered that my old harddisk is having a 'B' after a long surface scan.

To be save, when to buy a new harddisk and clone it using driveimage program.

The problem is that even the 'B' is being cloned over....!

How can I remove it ?

Thanks.

What operating system do you have?

if you have windows2000/XP run chkdsk /R from a cmd prompt. It will force repair of a bad sector and recover anything it can from it.

You can do this after cloning your HDD and it will remove the bad sector flag unless that sector is bad as well.
