Stop computer from becomming master browser
« on: October 21, 2003, 09:21:57 PM »
I have about 20 computers on a lan. 3 are servers. Sometimes computers, other than the servers become the master browser which causes netbios browser problems. I only want 2 of the servers to become master browsers and not any of the work stations. I know the ability to become a master browser/backup browser is configurable but I don't know how.

Please Help.

Thanks,

Hi,

on NT/w2k/XP machines edit registry path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameter and set MaintainServerList to No and IsDomainMasterBrowser to False.
