Using Norton Ghost 2003 with external USB DVD-writ
« on: October 28, 2003, 07:59:04 AM »
Hi,

I want to take back-ups of the PC of our clients, because they have very particular configurations of PC.

Therefore I bought Norton Ghost 2003 and the external USB DVD-writer Sony DRX-510UL (recognized as DRU-510A in W2K).

My intention is to create a bootdisk to detect the device and start ghost.exe.
So far, so good.
I succeeded to create that boot-disk. The DVD-device give signs of reaction at the time the USB-drivers for DOS are being loaded.
But once in Ghost, in the destination-field, the DVD-device does not appear.

Any suggestions? I already tried evrything suggested on the site of Symantec.

Best regards,
Salvator

Found using Ghost, with internal CD-RW anyway, when booting using the floppy on some computers the CD-RW was not detected (listed) in the available Ghost drive list.

If you exit the program, back to the A:> prompt and then re-run ghost (ghost.exe) from the command line, it detects the CD-RW drive fine.

Must be a timing issue.

Let me know if you get  the USB SONY DVD to work ok?
That would be a pretty hot situation.

Thanks
