Mate I dont think you will get much help from ere as most of the people here i beleve understand what you are asking is illegal, you could ask you local retailer about cd repairing products that may fix a range of scratches. anyway havent you made a backup copy of all your important cds http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

Technically....its not illegal. As long as you do not give out the serial number, it is totally legal.

I have been preinstalling M$ products for years. I create the very CD\'s you are all talking about. I can gather some of my info, and post it when I get time. Here is an example of an unattend.txt that is set to load a third party SCSI, and run some reg merges, and other batch files during install. Remeber you need to include the  [OemBootFiles] section too when using 3rd party scsi. and they must be in the $oem$textmode folder.

Anyone know how to bypass the upgrade compliance check when using an 2000 Pro upgrade CD?  I have my NT4 and 98 CD\'s, can I integrate the files necessary for the check on my 2000 boot cd?

Upgrade versions usually do not boot. Only OEM full versions. Also people want to install the service packs 1 or 2 automatically with the install instead of making it a 2 or 3 step process

Well, if this is true, and the cd is unreadable, you can contact Microsoft for have it replaced, they will do for free.

I have followed all the instructions on buring the CD correctly, and keep coming up with the NTLDR not found issue.  Can someone tell me why this is?  I see other messages in here asking this but no responses...?

Thanks.

The instruction for win2k boot cd is confusing.  Read the one for XP .

it\'s much easier to follow

The easiest way to bypass this is to change the PID in setupp.ini from 51874000 to 51873000, which designates it as a full version as opposed to an upgrade version...

Couple of questions. I am making a CD with everything I need. I would like to have all apps and patches installed automatically.
With $OEM$ at the root of the CD where should cmdlines.txt reside? Which apps and patches can be run from this file (IE6, DX81, WMP7, hotfixes etc) can be run from cmdlines.txt and which apps should be installed from the[GuiRunOnce] section?

Any box using windows vers XX or XXXX can boot from a CD.  Go into setup at normal startup and select the heirarchy you want for booting.  Normally the system looks at the A drive first.  Rearrange this setup so your CD Rom is first.  Simple.

Cool discussion.

I would like to make a bootable cd of just the 4 boot floppies in Win2k. I can`t seem to get it to work.

How do I get the files on the 4 floppies to boot instead of the win2k setup program?

Thanks

Eric says:

I put a customized NTUSER.DAT file onto the cd and called a a batch file from cmdlines.txt that overwrote the default user\'s with it to setup defaults for the machine......HINT: You can use the %USERPROFILE% variable in a batch file running out of cmdlines.txt to reference the default user\'s directory. It\'s usually C:Documents and SettingsDefault User but not always if you are upgrading.
That\'s how I copy the NTUSER.DAT file into the default user profile directory. It didn\'t seem to work if I put the command into the cmdlines.txt file but it worked in a batch file called from cmdlines.txt

Does anyone know how to do this? If Eric sees this, please advise
