PLEASE HELP!
« on: March 19, 2005, 12:55:50 AM »
I really need help, if someon could just give me download links for some programs to deal with these problems would be really helpful as well as any instructions on what I should do. I figure that if I can fix the registery problems then these downloader programs wont have a backdoor to get into my system with. then its a matter of getting rid of the programs that are on my systems like the VX2's and such, here's my Hijack log.

Hi LoboMalo230
I just got back home, I don't have time to look at your log right now
But thank you for your patience
I'm going to close your other post and let's stick with this one

I will look at your log tomorrow morning
I hope that is not too much of an inconvenience

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Follow the instructions posted http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php/topic/22942-please-read-how-to-post-logs-from-frst/\'>Click Here

Download and UNZIP to desktop
[attachment=69:attachment]
So you will now have iSearch.reg on your desktop
We'll need this later

Download and Unzip to desktop LSPFIX.zip from this link
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
We'll need this later

We don't want Ad-Watch interfering with any of our fixes
I need you too shut it down until you are clean
In Ad-aware, go to the Settings area (the gear).  Then click the Ad-watch button.
The "Load Ad-watch on Windows start up" option controls if Ad-watch launches at start up or not.
A green check means Ad-watch will load on Windows start up.  A red X means Ad-watch will not load automatically.  To toggle between these two settings, click the red X or the green check to switch to its opposite.  Then click the Proceed button to save your settings.

Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Please copy and paste the rest of this too a Notepad file and save it to your desktop
or Print it out
Also know how to start in safe mode in advanced, if unsure I supplied a link below

Disconnect completely from the Internet
Close down all Browser windows, including this one

Ensure that you unzipped LSP fix earlier and your not running it from within the Zipped  file
With ONLY LSP fix open
Check "I know what I'm doing".
Then select all instances of aklsp.dll and dolsp.dll (and nothing else) in the left pane,
click the arrow button to have them moved into the right hand panel.(The Removal Pane) Click Finish <--you may have to scroll down a bit to see it, Finish is NOT the X button at the top

Restart your computer into SAFE MODE

In Safe mode: Do the rest of these instructions
Go to START>>>RUN>>>type in services.msc and hit Enter
In the next window, look on the right hand side for this service
name---- ZESOFT

Double click on it--- STOP the service--
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled

Restart the computer
Access your Add/Remove programs and remove if found
mscman

PLEASE HELP!
« Reply #5 on: March 19, 2005, 03:35:40 PM »
Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #4 by typing 4 and then pressing Enter

Then select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

[color=\"red\"]IMPORTANT:  Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so![/color]

NOTE:After restart and L2MFIX finishes scanning for files>>give this time to finish
If a text doesn't open, run the "second.bat" located inside the L2mfix folder

Download and save to desktop CleanAll.zip
UNZIP the contents too desktop so you now have CleanUp.reg and IEFix.reg on your desktop
[attachment=71:attachment]

Again, print this out or save too a notepad file on your desktop

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 search.netscape.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdtl] C:\WINDOWS\system32\winupdt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zollgh] c:\windows\system32\zollgh.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BullsEye Network] C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network\bin\bargains.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VBundleOuterDL] C:\Program Files\VBouncer\BundleOuter.EXE

O16 - DPF: {DDFFA75A-E81D-4454-89FC-B9FD0631E726} - http://www.bundleware.com/activeX/BM2/BM2.dll
O16 - DPF: {E0CE16CB-741C-4B24-8D04-A817856E07F4} (IObjSafety.DemoCtl) - http://cabs.media-motor.net/cabs/diamond.cab

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Restart into safe mode

Access your Add/Remove programs and remove if you can and/or found
BullsEye Network
Virtual bouncer

Stay in safe mode and delete if found
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winupdt.exe<-file
c:\windows\system32\zollgh.exe <-file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ywiwir.exe <-file

C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network <-folder
C:\Program Files\VBouncer <-folder

Double click on CleanUp.reg and allow to merge to the registry
Double click on IEFix.reg and also allow to merge

Can you run another scan with hijackthis in safe mode and save the log

Restart back to Normal mode

Don't open a browser yet, instead access Internet Options via Control Panel
Under the Programs tab "Reset Web Settings"
Under the General tab---Delete files + offline content---Also Reset home page

Check ActiveX security settings:
* In Internet Explorer, Tools | Internet Options | Security tab | Custom Level. Make sure that the following settings are correct:
o Download signed ActiveX controls (Prompt)
o Download unsigned ActiveX controls (Disable)
o Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe (Disable)
o Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins (Enabled)
o Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting (Prompt)

I would advise you too do an online virus scan at Panda's just to be safe
Could you run it in this manner please
Go to this link >>>Online virus scan at Panda's
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co...n_principal.htm
Don't start it yet
Now, this is VERY IMPORTANT
Close out all unnecessary programs running in the background
including this window

Bring up the Task Manager(right click the bottom taskbar and select Task Manager)
End process on these if you can

explorer.exe <---this will cause all your Icons and taskbar to disappear

After that is done you will have only the Task Manager and the page from Panda's open
Click the SCAN MY PC button>>>This should bring up a pop up window from Panda's
Close down the IE page that I linked you to Panda's but keep their popup window open

Now you have Panda's popup window open and the Task Manager

Click the NEXT button>>If prompted at any time to install an Active X allow it
Supply an email address
Let it load the activex control and load the virus definitions

To start the scan ensure you select My Computer or My whole computer
Something like that

Let it completely finish scanning, don't use the computer at all

When the scan is done, you should have the option of saving a report
Can you post that back later

Next
In Task Manager click FILE at the top
Then Click NEW TASK (Run)
In the open field type in
"explorer.exe" without the quotes and then click OK

This should bring back up the Desktop Icons and Taskbar

Come back to the forum and post a fresh hijackthis log from Normal mode and the results from Panda's
Could you also post a log from Hijackthis that you did in safe mode, thanks

We're almost done, just some cleanup from the Narrator Trojan

Could you download and Unzip to desktop
[attachment=72:attachment]
A FindQoologic folder will be placed on the desktop

Open the FindQoologic folder.
Locate and double-click the Activesetup.vbs file to run it.
Allow this to run if prompted by your AV, we're just collecting information
Please wait until a "Finished" message appears.

When the set-up is complete a file named "Activesetup components[Machine ID][date].txt" will have been saved in the FindQoologic folder.

Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat to run it.

The tool will open a DOS window and begin to check your system.
When it is finished a text file will open in Notepad called "file.txt".

Save this text file in the FindQoologic folder.

Locate the "Activesetup components[Machine ID][date].txt" file and the 'file.txt' you saved.

Copy and paste the contents of both reports into your next post.

Seems like the virus scanners removed most of Narrator trojan
Just some leftovers

Download the Pocket Killbox
UNZIP it to a folder of your choice

Open Killbox.exe
In the Full Path of File to Delete box, copy and paste the entire line directly below in bold

C:\WINDOWS\AHNHNE.DLL

Select the radio button to
 Delete on Reboot
Click the Delete file button
The Red circle and a white X
When prompted to Delete on Reboot, click YES
If prompted to Reboot Now, Click YES
Ensure you restart anyways

Back in Windows
Delete the Activesetup components[Machine ID][date].txt" and the
"file.txt" files in the FindQoologic folder
Run Activesetup.vbs and Findqoologic.bat from the previous instructions

Post the logs as well as a fresh Hijackthis log

Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad) hit Enter
Copy the contents of the Quote box to notepad, not including the word Quote
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as fixme.reg

Save this file on the desktop

Quote
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\gfnfnt]

Double click on fixme.reg and allow to merge to the registry

Restart your computer

Back in Windows

Go back and Hide Hidden files and folders

If everything is running better

You should disable system restore---restart your computer--enable system restore
This will clear all your restore points and ensure you don't restore any nasties
Once reenabled it will create a fresh restore point
How to Disable and Re-enable System Restore feature

Once back in Windows and System Restore is reenabled

You should set up protection against future attacks

SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
TUTORIAL==Link to Tutorial
Download link

With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks
Keep the link to IE-Spyad bookmarked so you can check for updates
SpywareBlaster, after every update just simply enable all protection

Let me know how everythings running

EDIT>>If your no longer using ErrorNuker you can have hijackthis fix this entry too
It will be reinstalled if needed, it's just an ActiveX control

You can also go back and enable Ad-Watch from Ad-Aware
Could you post one final hijackthis log afterwards, thanks

Also, if you can find these files, you can now send them too the recycle bin
c:\windows\system32\aklsp.dll

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Follow the instructions posted http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php/topic/22942-please-read-how-to-post-logs-from-frst/\'>Click Here
