CDBOOT: Couldn\'t Find NTLDR
« on: August 27, 2001, 09:29:42 PM »
Hello,
I have a small problem. I starts with my Win2k cd sitting in a pool of pepsi and eating its way through the media on the cd. to say the least it was toast but luckily i made a back up of it but it isnt bootable. I read this sites and anothers about how to make it bootable while at the same time i can slipstream SP2 onto the cd. I followed all of the instructions and it does boot but says

Boot From ATAPI CD-ROM:
  No Emulation

Thanks for any help you can offer

I recently tried to keep windows me out of a dual boot with w2k , and I deleted the line C:=\"Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition\" .I couldn\'t boot anymore from my w2k on D.Then I put Ntldr ,ntbootdd.sys ,ntdetect.com and boot.ini on my D  drive and I could boot again but the bootmenu did\'nt show anymore as there was only one system left , as to the boot.ini .Those files are normally on drive C .
Put these  files \"also\" on the drive or partition where w2k is installed .If w2k is installed on C check if those files are there .You have to change the folder options in the tools menue \"to show all files \" .

Dan if your CD layout has setup.exe here......e:setup.exe
i.m not sure what the problem is..but if your setup.exe is one folder down e.g. e:win2ksetup.exe the loader cant boot because when you burned the CD the checkbox to retain folder tree was checked when it should not....i had this problem before...hopefully its the same

I had this problem while trying to make XP bootable.

I fixed it (after numerous retries) by taking all the required files and putting them on the root of my HD, then used CDRWin and followed the general insructions, except I ticked the \"Preserve Full Pathnames\" box.  Since all the files are on the root of the HD, it makes them the root of the CD.  This lets the boot sequence find the files properly.
