Wow, lots of people asking questions, I messed around with the kernal and got it working in about 10 min. So the solution is, if you have to ask questions about something like this, you probably shouldnt be messing with it. Now then, next topic photoshop.
PHOTOSHOP CAN BE USED TO EDIT THE IMAGES FOR THE BOOT SCREEN. dont listen to the other dorks saying you cant. Using resourse hacker save the images (image 10 is incorrect by the way, change image 1 for the primary boot screen). Open the file that you saved in photoshop and download the correct palette. Apply the palette and tada, you should see the image. Here is the important part that will awanser most of the questions:
1. You cannot change the dimensions of the original file.
2. When saving make sure your in "Indexed Color" mode, using the palette provided in the tutorial on themexp.org
3. THIS IS REAL IMPORTANT after saving an option box will pop up make sure to select "Windows" as the file format, the depth has to be at "4 bit" and the box next to "compress (RLE)" should NOT be checked.
If you follow the directions on themexp.org carfully it should be no problem to change the boot screen, but you have to ask yourself, is doing this really worth your time? If you awansered yes, your a big nerd, just like me.
